Concrete Scanning & Locating services

Concrete Scanning

Moving forward on your project without having accurate sub-surface data may jeopardise machinery, compromise structural integrity or pose risks to operators. Using the latest Ground Penetrating Radar technology and techniques, our experienced team can interpret any detected anomalies to determine what is located within concrete structures.

How concrete scanning works?

A specialist Ground-Penetrating Radar is required for penetrating concrete slabs and surfaces. The system we use at Australian Underground Search features ultra-wideband detection for unparalleled sub-surface evaluation of concrete slabs, bridges, buildings, pavements, and other concrete structures. Using Stepped Frequency Continuous Wave (SFCW) technology, GPR Live real-time concrete scanning covers multiple individual GPR antennas ranging from 0.2 to 4.0GHz. This versatility allows fast integrity assessment, as-built verification, single-side thickness measurement, and hit prevention to mark cutting and safe core drilling locations accurately.

What information do you need?

The different sub-surface data that Australian Underground Search can provide includes:

  • thickness of the slab
  • reinforcement location and pattern
  • size of reinforcement
  • position of footings or beams
  • location of underground services
