Why Ground-Penetrating Radar?
Ground-penetrating radar, or GPR, is used to locate hidden objects and features underground. At Australian Underground Search, we utilise the latest GPR technologies to provide our clients with accurate and reliable results.
We can locate and confirm the depth of underground utilities and sub-surface structures. This non-destructive technique is often used to locate pits and valves, as well as non-conductive lines such as plastic pipes.
How Does Ground Penetrating Radar Work?

GPR is a specialist piece of equipment that uses radar waves to penetrate the ground and reflect back signals and images of structures buried within two-three metres of the surface.
Here at Australian Underground Search, we use ground penetrating radar to locate non-conductive services such as water, sewer, and stormwater pipes. These are usually made out of PVC or concrete and don’t show up using the EMF detector receiver wand.
